This online class guides you through the process of creating a handmade concertina (accordion) book using encaustic paint, dried botanicals, collage, mixed media, and natural fibers. Throughout the course, you’ll learn how to fold and assemble your own concertina book, bring your pages to life with intuitive mark making, and press and embed natural elements like flowers and leaves. You’ll also explore image transfers using graphite and charcoal, weave together fibers and collaged elements for a richly tactile surface, and add finishing touches that transform your book into a personal keepsake or poetic art object.
